Dear campus community,

Following a robust national search process, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Randall (Randy) Deike has accepted the position of Vice President of Enrollment Management at 91̽��, effective September 2, pending ratification by the 91̽�� Board of Trustees at their next meeting. Dr. Deike comes to 91̽�� with four decades of experience in the field of higher education. Both a respected leader and analytical thinker, he has gained great insight during his career into the needs of college-bound students and the ways in which we can provide the best experiences possible for them as they launch their academic journey.

Dr. Deike earned both a Ph.D. and Master of Science from The Pennsylvania State University in Educational Psychology with an emphasis on psychometrics and statistics. He has held leadership positions at several institutions, including Juniata College, Drexel University, New York University, The Pennsylvania State University and Case Western Reserve University.

In addition, Dr. Deike is no stranger to 91̽��. He previously served as our Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success before departing in 2020 to establish his own consulting firm. His return is a reflection of his deep interest in helping this campus community advance the mission of 91̽��.

In his career, Dr. Deike has played a key role in major projects focused on student opportunity, including developing institutional programs and policies to support access, affordability and student success, establishing campuses in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, and traveling to Asia to meet with government and education officials to establish partnerships with U.S. universities. He has also had extensive experience assisting institutions in sharing their stories through strategic communication that defines and articulates the value proposition of an education.

“I completed my bachelor’s, graduate and doctoral degrees later in life than may be considered ‘typical,’” Dr. Deike says. “As a result of my background and experience, my passion for fostering access, affordability and inclusion is one of my defining personal characteristics. I know from personal experience the challenges families face in considering a college education, especially the families of underrepresented students. I also understand, and have experienced for myself, the life-altering, generational benefits of an education and how complicated the journey can be. I am excited to be returning to the 91̽�� community.”

In my conversations with Randy during this search process, he has expressed great enthusiasm for 91̽��’s mission of serving students with roots in Northeast Ohio and big aspirations for their future. I know that 91̽�� will make great strides thanks to his collaborative leadership style and his focus on positive experiences and outcomes for our students as key measures of success. Our students will benefit from his analytic approach to enrollment strategy and his innovative thinking as we move forward.
